  • Overview

    The successful candidate will demonstrate our Corporate Guiding Values of Integrity, Consumer Advocacy, Teamwork, Development, Quality and Performance in all areas of their work.  The Program Manager, PMO will be responsible for managing all phases of large to extra-large projects and Programs.  Projects / Programs will be cross functional in nature.  In addition, the Program Manager, PMO may manage direct reports.  The Program Manager, PMO should be an expert with Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches and mentor other Project Managers and Business Analysts to increase their competence in the same. Meeting Schedule, Budget, and Quality objectives is essential. Making and meeting commitments is paramount.  The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple highly complex / high priority projects and programs simultaneously, while also mentoring a team.  The candidate will excel in delivering programs and projects that span organizations internally and externally.  Management of vendors and contractors is required.  The Program Manager, PMO will have a strong technical and business background.  Cross departmental Risk prevention and timely Risk Mitigation is a critical and required capability.  They will Utilize strategic foresight to identify and manage interdependencies between initiatives.  A combination of strategic thinking and an ability to focus on details is key.  The ability to identify and manage cross departmental dependencies is vital.  Management and leadership skills must be sound. This candidate is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of customer’s business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates. This role will be key to understanding the documenting capabilities needed to address business challenges.

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Be a Master of Strategy and Details
    • Ability to work on projects with varied technologies/ Industry segments.
    • Ability to translate Business value statements into project deliverables for cross functional teams
    • Foster team work, inclusion, and collaboration across departments
    • Create work breakdown structures for complex cross departmental projects and programs
    • Coordinate with teams and stakeholders to remove ambiguity between cross departmental projects and programs
    • Manage Program / Cross Departmental / Cross Project Dependencies, Issues, Risks, Actions, Information, Decisions, Requirements, Schedule, Deliverables, Resources, and Budget
    • Create and maintain Project / Program Schedules for complex cross functional projects
    • Facilitate sprint / release velocity increases via thorough program / project management
    • Provide varying levels of status reports depending on audience
    • Maintain thorough understanding of projects and programs that direct reports are leading.
    • Facilitate business case development and project approval
    • Be a Project Data Expert
    • Create and present burn down charts
    • Create Resource and Budget projections and constraints based on data available
    • Manage Project Portfolio KPIs and reporting
    • Gather and organize information for the Executive Steering Committee and present it
    • Understand Financial Constructs and apply that knowledge to project collateral
    • Be a Strategic Thinker
    • Contribute to the approach and design of programs and projects
    • Translate Business Goals and Requirements into programs and projects with executable work packages
    • Distill ideas and strategies into programs, projects, and tasks
    • Understand Corporate Goals and apply that knowledge to each program / project
    • Demonstrate breadth of knowledge and experience in management of cross departmental dependencies
    • Be a Steward of Corporate Resources
    • Ensure effective and efficient resource utilization via planning, executing, and completing required scope on time, within budget, and with an acceptable level of quality
    • Demonstrate Business Acumen. Understand business goals and objectives and create integrated plans to support them.
    • Estimate and monitor costs (labor and fixed) and actively manage programs / projects to remain within boundaries.
    • React and adjust to disruptions in a cost effective and efficient manner
    • Be an Effective Communicator
    • Communicate verbally and via written media to all stakeholders; business, technical, and executive teams.
    • Ensure all teams have a synchronized understanding of program / project goals, objectives, status, and deliverables.
    • Effectively communicate how the program / project fits into the “big picture”
    • Be a Project Management Office Expert (PM/BA)
    • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in agile, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies
    • Demonstrate a broad understanding of technology
    • Considered a “go to” project management resource for mission critical projects
    • Enable success and take ownership in all PMO processes
    • Understand Financial Constructs and apply that knowledge to the management of projects
    • Monitor and drive User Story completion
    • Be an Effective Manager / Coach / Mentor
    • Coach other project managers regarding project management practices; lead by example
    • Teach and train other project managers in an effort to improve their skillset and advance their career
    • Monitor performance and evaluate employee performance
    • Jointly set objectives / goals and assist in employee attainment of the same

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Masters Degree or equivalent training / experience in a related field required
    • Related studies (Instructor led or self-paced coursework) desired
    • Related certifications (PMI, Scrum, Agile) preferred
    • Management experience / training preferred.
