  • Overview

    This Leader will demonstrate our Corporate Guiding Values of Integrity, Consumer Advocacy, Teamwork, Development, Quality and Performance in all areas of their work and will mentor team members in the same, while helping them advance skills in their specific roles.

     

    The Automation Lead will help determine the automation strategy for the company and will direct its execution through automation, training and/or leading a team of automation engineers.  She/he will provide insight into automation best practices and oversight of a comprehensive automation solution.  The Automation Lead will also demonstrate a great attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills as well as the desire to affect change and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on highly integrated systems with minimal supervision.

    Responsibilities

    Be a Leader

    • Direct the Software Quality Assurance Automation strategy for the IT organization
    • Guide a group of Team Leads and individually contributing QA Engineers in the effective and efficient use of automation as part of day-to-day operations
    • Actively engage with other IT departments to operationalize automation, maximizing its benefits to the entire organization
    • Establish processes that support accurate measurement of key performance indicators and group metrics
    • Mentor team members to ensure technical growth and productivity

    • Develop and maintain test automation that is comprehensive and sustainable

    Be Empowering

    • Track progress, manage and remove blockers to meet commitments
    • Ensure QA best practices are consistently maintained, solicit feedback and provide insight for improving them 
    • Determine and communicate environment and resource needs and conflicts

    Be a Relationship Builder

    • Display professional, enthusiastic, and approachable demeanor
    • Develop and maintain productive relationships across the organization in relation to her/his area of responsibility
    • Work closely with other QA leaders, as well as development teams to ensure Software Quality Assurance automation is useful, sustainable and meets the needs of the organization
    • Act as an information resource and the subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • 7+ years experience working in the IT/Software Industry
    • 5+ years experience in Software Quality Assurance Automation role
    • 3+ years experience in leading Software Quality Assurance Automation processes and engineers
    • Demonstrated ability to determine, direct and implement a comprehensive automation strategy
    • Demonstrated ability to direct the transition of a manual QA shop to one that is integrated with automation
    • Demonstrated ability to solve automation blockers due to data, environments or other restrictions
    • Experience with utilizing UI automation tools like Selenium as well as TestNG and Jenkins
    • Experience determining automation candidate tests, running automated scripts and analyzing results
    • Experience in automating web and mobile application testing
    • Experience in automating services
    • Ability to code in C#/.NET, PHP or Java
    • Familiarity with e-commerce / secure transactions
    • Ability to build productive and positive relationships across the organization
    • Able to work independently with minimal oversight
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with hours outside core scheduled hours when required

    Preferred Skills

    • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills
    • Excellent SQL skills and knowledge of relational databases
    • Excellent SOAP and/or REST API testing skills using testing tools like SoapUI and Postman
    • Ability to work effectively with both on and off-site resources
    • Ability to quickly master domain knowledge of complex systems
    • Experience with performance testing and performance testing tools like JMeter
